Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be asleep ?

No, you will find that you are in an extremely relaxed, pleasant state. In fact, instead of being dulled, your senses are heightened and you will be fully aware of everything that is said to you.

Will I be under your control when in trance ?

Not at all - you are in control at all times. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and a therapist is there to help you facilitate a trance state. Whilst in this trance state the therapist uses her/his skills to help you to reprogramme your subconscious to make the positive changes you desire.

What if I can’t be hypnotised ?

The vast majority of people can be hypnotised, but no-one can be hypnotised against their will. People who are not suitable for hypnosis are some very young children, people who suffer from severe mental health problems or those under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

How will you put me into trance ?

There are many different techniques to induce a trance state. I choose the induction to suit the individual but all inductions are very relaxing, calming and pleasant.

Will I reveal things under hypnosis that I don’t want to?

Because you are fully aware of everything that happens during your session, there is no way you can be made to say or do anything that you don’t wish to. In a lot of cases you don’t need to speak at all -  just relax and enjoy. Hypnosis is, however a two-way process and if there is any background information that is relevant to your therapy it is in your own interest to share that information with me in order to achieve the best results. All information given is held in the strictest confidence.

How many sessions will I need ?

It depends on why you are attending. Some therapies are just one session and others take more.  I treat all my clients as individuals are write personal programmes for them, so after meeting you I will be able to give you a timescale. I offer the initial consultation free and this is without obligation to carry on into therapy if either of us decides it’s not the right course of action.

How soon will I notice a difference ?

Again this depends why you’re seeking help. The reports I have back from my clients state they have immediately felt more confident and motivated and usually say they slept so much better on the night of their therapy.

What if you can’t bring me out of a trance ?

This cannot happen, - when you are in trance you are in an altered state of awareness and you will automatically change your state of awareness either when I count you out of the trance or on your own. It’s just like coming back from a daydream.
